	MAHO LAPLANTE Art has always been a part of my life and my family. The story of the Tokyo art community in the late pre-war years, including my grandfather, Tsugio Nara, became the subject of the Japanese book, Ikebukuro Montparnasse My mother used to give sketching classes in our home when I was young and she taught me how to sketch and paint when I was a child.
